Community Spirit

Year 5 Arthur and Year 2 Ernest have started a few little traditions over this period of lockdown. One being a daily cycle ride with a stop at a local bakery to buy an iced bun. Yummy!
Arthur has also celebrated his 10th birthday. He had a wonderful day. His neighbours came out to sing happy birthday. They came armed with banners, balloons, music and presents and Arthur’s family had a mini socially distanced party in their cul de sac. Arthur’s Mum said “We are so blessed to have such amazing neighbours”.
The brothers have also painted rainbows for their windows. Ernie hosted a teddy bears picnic and they have both been collecting donations from all of their neighbours for their community larder.
Arthur joined in with his neighbours on a community project and learnt a new skill. Wexham Hospital has asked for 5000 pillowcase drawstring bags to be made. The idea is that the doctors and nurses place their uniform in the bag and then put the whole bag in the wash so they do not need to touch it. One down, 4999 to go!
All in all Arthur and Ernie have had a fantastic (and very busy) Easter break. I hope they are ready to start their virtual lessons on Wednesday with Gayhurst@home!
