Gayhurst Remembers

On a very grey overcast morning the whole of Gayhurst School gathered together on the astro-turf to hold a Remembrance Day assembly. All of the children from Nursery to Year 6 and the entire staff body spent time reflecting in silence.

The Last Post was played by three members of staff and Head Boy Zac and Head Girl Tula read, In Flanders Fields a poem by John McCrae.

Four of our Y2 children read their acrostic poems that they had been working on in class.

Many of the classes have been creating art work based on poppies during their creative lessons and our smallest children brought their creations to the assembly.

Our time of remembrance was concluded by a few words from Major General Inshaw following Mr Davies’ address and the laying of the wreath by Mrs Harper, as our longest serving member of staff.
