Pupils perform prose, old and new

This year’s Prose and Verse final was as hotly contested, as thrilling to watch and as challenging to judge as ever. Every pupil in Years 3 to 6 participates in the first round, selecting either a poem or a prose extract to learn by heart and perform to their peers. English teachers have the tough job of putting through the semi-finalists who then perform in their year group with the added pressure of Mr Davies making the decision as to who will be in the final.

As ever, the standard of each Year Group, the confidence of their recitations and the way they captured and engaged the audience was a delight to watch. The chosen pieces were wonderfully varied- with the humour of Roald Dahl and David Walliams proving ever popular and the evocative language of Shakespeare immersing us in high drama. All finalists deserve high praise for setting such a great standard. Our thanks to Mrs Tania Botting, Head of Greenield School, Woking and Vice Chair of IAPS who had the very hard task of choosing the winners.
