The Gayhurst Winter Games

On Friday 5th February pupils in Reception to Year 6 took part in the very first Gayhurst Winter Games.
During the opening ceremony, alongside messages from Mr Davies and Mr Kearns, pupils were treated to a good luck message from 5-Time Winter Olympian, Graham Bell. There was also an interview with current Jamaican bobsleigh athlete Dyneal Fassel, who had some important words of wisdom for any budding future athletes. Just in case you were wondering, the bobsled team do have a lucky egg!
The activities kicked off in style with a whole school workout. Alongside the Games department and over 30 key worker children across the school, there were 167 attendees on Zoom that took part in the activity, starting the day in great fashion!
Throughout the remainder of the day, pupils were able to enjoy various activities including baking brownies; building bobsleighs and tracks; taking part in bingo & quizzes; and finishing the day with the Winter Games Competition, where the boys and girls competed in year groups across 8 events for a podium position. Results of the events can be seen in the video link below (these will also be available on Teams and MSP before half term).

This was a great day for all involved and we would like to thank pupils and parents for engaging with all the activities to help make the day a real success. A big thanks should also go to all the staff who played a part in planning and running of the activities throughout the day.
