Year 4 Art

Wayne Thiebaud is an American painter based in California. He worked as a cartoonist, a sign painter, an illustrator and an Art teacher, before he became a famous painter.  He is currently 99 Years old!

He is widely known for his colourful works depicting commonplace objects – cakes & pies , lipsticks, and hotdogs.  He is also known for his unique figure and landscape paintings.

His landscape paintings were the inspiration for our Year 4 project in the Autumn Term.  The children incorporated aspects of his style into their own landscape design and painting.  They took ideas for their colour scheme from  the artists work and learned to use the colour wheel as a tool for mixing and matching colours found in Thiebaud’s paintings.  Wayne Thiebaud is one of Miss Crosbie’s favourite artists.
