Library

Junior School (Reception – Year 2)

The Junior School Library caters for children younger pupils and allows children to begin to read independently, become familiar with borrowing books and listen to stories. During the second half of Year 2, pupils are introduced to a more formal library setting with weekly visits to the Senior School Library.

Senior School (Years 3-6)

The Senior School Library is at the heart of the school and provides a colourful and enticing space for children to develop a genuine love of books and reading. With a wide selection of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, magazines and annuals, there is something to cater for all tastes.  Children spend time in the library weekly during their English lessons and are free to visit during their break and lunch times.

Accelerated Reader Programme

The school subscribes to Renaissance ‘s Accelerated Reader Programme, a reading management and monitoring programme that aims to foster independent reading. The internet-based software assesses reading age, and suggests books that match pupils’ needs and interests. Pupils take computerised comprehension quizzes on the books and earn points as they progress.
