Nursery

Our purpose built Nursery in Gerrards Cross is a bright and spacious environment for our youngest children. We provide exceptional care for our Nursery children, encouraging them to explore, investigate and use their imagination. As well as quiet corners for individual play and areas for messy play, construction and role play, there is a secure outdoor area.

Our Nursery team, led by a qualified teacher, follows the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance, learning about our wonderful world through play, both inside and outside, whatever the weather. Your child will be given opportunities to develop their communication, literacy and numeracy skills, through a combination of exciting child initiated and focused activities, led by an adult.

Establishing relationships between you, your child and the staff is important and building your child’s independence and confidence is integral to our approach.

The Nursery in Gerrards Cross is open from 8.20am until 3pm and we expect the children to attend a minimum of five morning sessions, until 1pm. Many children attend full time straight away, but for those that don’t, we recommend increasing the number of sessions they attend throughout the year so that they are ready for full time school when they reach Reception age.

The Nursery children are fully integrated into the Junior School and preparation for a smooth transition to Reception is an important part of the Nursery curriculum. They eat a cooked lunch in the dining room with our Reception children, visit our Library and attend Junior School assembly twice a week. Specialist teachers provide weekly Music, Games, Dance and Listening Skills lessons for our Nursery children. The Nursery children go on many adventures, further developing their understanding of the world and their gross motor skills, as they run, climb and explore our wonderful school grounds.

As with all our year groups, confidence is further developed through concerts, plays and performances to the school and the wider community.

Nursery children may attend our Wind Down Time after school until 5.15pm. Breakfast club from 7.25am and Supper Club until 6pm are available to all children in the school.

We would be delighted to show you around our Nursery.
