A visit to see Alex T Smith

On Wednesday 6th March year one and year two had a very special treat listening to the award winning and hugely popular author and illustrator, Alex T Smith.

Alex Smith enthralled the children with his talk about his lovable character Claude, the bestselling beret-clad canine hero.

The session began with Alex Smith explaining how his grandfather, also a writer, would write Alex a story each day, detailing the adventures of his toys whilst he was at school. Alex was inspired by this and it sparked a passion inside him to write and illustrate books of his own.

Alex Smith demonstrated how to draw Claude with clear step by step instructions and both the children and teachers enjoyed this special tutorial.

Finally, Alex read an extract of one of his ‘Claude’ books and stopped on a cliff-hanger with everyone wanting to read more.

The special visit, arranged to coincide with book week was an inspiration and thoroughly enjoyed by all!
