Year 6 study religion in Art
In Art this term, Year 6 have been working in groups, designing an image to represent a particular point in the story of Jesus’s birth. When completed, all the paintings will be arranged in order to tell the story in a sequence of pictures. The images will be displayed within ornate frames which will also be designed and constructed by the group.
On Tuesday, the children visited The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. The aim of the trip was to learn about religion in Art and to inspire further ideas for their school project, Nativity Story. The children were very lucky to have two wonderful tour guides and art historians to help them communicate their ideas and understanding of the paintings, through discussion about composition, symbolism and colour.
In the classroom the children will now move forward with their projects, taking inspiration from The National Gallery visit and making improvements to their designs.
