Thank you Gayhurst
Zac, Josh, Zac and Oliver took an assembly yesterday to report back on the success of their laces sales which Gayhurst pupils supported so generously. They raised over £11,000 through the sale of their laces and received many donations from Gayhurst families and their connections.
The British Government (Department for International Development) @dfid_uk matched their donation £ for £ and so thanks to the Gayhurst network the boys raised £22,000! That money is being invested by @Afrikids to get children across the Upper Eastern region of Ghana into school.
In April the four boys and their families travelled to Ghana to a town called Bolgatanga (7hr flight to Accra and then 734km to the north!) to meet the children that the campaign supported and to experience the lives they lead. They took part in dancing, debating, acting, farming chillies, singing, processing shea butter, playing footie, planting trees, making pottery, drumming & meeting the big chief and his 27 wives! An incredible experience.
They wanted to say thank you to all the Gayhurst families for their hugely generous support, so they bought back a drum for the school and made this video:-
