Fundraising for Wexham Park
Year 6 pupil Ewan and his family took part in a sponsored Cycle / Run / Walk for the ITU ward at Wexham Park Hospital. He and his family were one of 36 Families in their local area fundraising in three 12 Hour Shifts (like the ICU nurses) over the weekend.
They were doing this in honour of the amazing NHS Staff at Wexham Hospital who cared for one of their friends and helped him get better after he was felled by COVID-19. The same staff cared for the Dad of one of Ewan’s friends during his terminal illness. The family feel they owe the staff at this hospital a lot of thanks.
For obvious reasons the neighbours couldn’t do this as one big group, so each family took an hour shift and either walked, ran, cycled, or scootered around a local route as many times as they could. Ewan and his family did their shift at 3pm on Sunday. It was perfect timing as the wind got up for the first time in days to make sure they had extra fun! They managed to achieve 8 miles in their hour.
What a great idea for a fantastic community event!
