GX Fun Run

We were delighted to welcome Puffin the GX Fun Run mascot to our assembly today. We learned how the money raised at this event helps two charities – The Epilepsy Society and Medical Detection Dogs. It’s fair to say the whole school fell in love with Isla the 11 month old labrador who is currently in training to become a ‘detection dog’. Dogs have such a powerful sense of smell that it can be used to detect illness or disease in humans in the very early stages and hopefully lead to prompt treatment. They can also help diabetics and people with epilepsy by spotting an ‘episode’ before it happens and alerting their owners to get assistance.

It costs £13000 to train one dog so we hope that lots of people attend what promises to be a great day on 20th May. Please click here if you want to sign up for the Fun Run.
